Gratitude - The Transformative Skill for Leaders

I received a gratitude journal from a friend. At the time, I thought it was the coolest gift. But I was early in my gratitude practice and I got to the point where I was recording the same things that I was grateful for, over and over again.

So I quit. No more entries.

Fast forward to today. My practice of gratitude has advanced into a new understanding of its power.

Gratitude has become an experience I can return to in each moment when called upon with the statement, “I am grateful.”

This creates a separation - a different experience than the statement “I am grateful for…” which, for me, reinforced attachment. Life needing to be a certain way.

A deeper practice of gratitude opened me up to a whole new world of possibilities. When I resonate with the frequency of gratitude, my experience of life consequently becomes better, allowing me to interact with the world differently.

Imagine if we, as leaders, could lead with gratitude, not for the things that are accomplished, but because it makes our overall experience better. We could head in the same direction, move towards the same targets and implement the same strategies, but with gratitude. How would that change your world and the world of those around you?
